The search for the pure expression of the Bobal grape.

First red wine from Finca Cor Ví, a red wine based on the Bobal variety. It benefits from a privileged environment in the Natural Park of Hoces del Cabriel, the recovery of old vines, its organic farming and the beginning of a journey that seems designed to overcome any challenge. This is Maloco 2021, the first elaboration of a family project located in Los Isidros-Requena.

THE VINTAGE

The vintage was characterized by very high temperatures at the beginning of the summer and a dry spring. During the months of September to October there was significant rainfall which delayed the harvest and favored phenolic ripening with moderate alcohol and acidity.

ELABORATION

Minimal treatment in the vineyard with very low yields, around 2kg per vine. The climate of the vintage favors a perfect balance between alcohol, acidity and tannins. The grapes are harvested by hand in 15kg boxes and then fermented in French oak vats.

BREEDING

Once the alcoholic fermentation is finished, the wine is transferred to new French oak barrels of 225l capacity for malolactic fermentation and remains 4 months. It is then left for 2 more months in clay eggs to polish tannins and clean the wine.

SENSORY ANALYSIS

COLOR

Medium-high intensity cherry red color that, despite the aging time, is still a wine of great liveliness.

AROMA

High intensity nose of ripe red fruit, candied cherry, blackberry. In the background and adding complexity cedar, ground pepper, balsamic and mineral notes.

TASTE

Medium acidity on the palate with ripe and powerful tannins. Medium intensity of red fruit, strawberry, raspberry, clove with a long finish distinguished by a mineral earthy touch.

VARIETY

The red wines produced with Bobal have a tannic character, with aromas of spices and red fruits, particularly cherry.

They usually have low alcohol and high acidity. Due to its unique and difficult character, as it does not always behave in the same way, the best wines will be the result of a very precise work at the level of the harvest and subsequent aging in robla barrels.
