Our Versat 2024 wine is made from Verdil grapes, a native variety with PDO Valencia status, grown in the regions of La Vall d'Albaida and La Costera.

THE VINTAGE

A year marked by extraordinary rainfall in March and April, almost double the usual amount. High temperatures in June meant that the harvest was brought forward by a few days. 

The extensive rainfall allowed us to maintain vegetative cover in the vineyard all year round and not to do any tillage, reducing phytosanitary treatments to a minimum. 

A particularly fresh year for the wines, obtaining a very high acidity with a slightly higher than usual sugar concentration and excellent health of the grapes.

ELABORATION

Verdil is a variety with very thin skin. In its final stage of ripening, the seed can be clearly seen through the skin of the berry. For this reason, it is processed lightly, with as little intervention as possible so as not to alter its varietal character. 

The grapes are harvested manually and, after cooling, pressed directly to ferment the must at a controlled temperature.

It is aged on lees for four months and then bottled immediately.

It is the wine from the winery that is presented first for consumption.

SENSORY ANALYSIS

COLOR

Straw yellow color with greenish tones.

AROMA

The nose is fresh with fruity and floral aromas, hints of citrus fruits such as grapefruit and lime, green apples, San Juan pears, fresh grass, and aromatic plants.

TASTE

It has a smooth entry on the palate, with freshness, the result of the magnificent natural acidity, with volume from the work of the lees, with a pleasant bitter point at the end typical of the variety, balanced and with a long aftertaste.

VARIETY

Verdil is a native variety from the Clariano subzone of the Valencia PDO, located between the regions of La Vall d'Albaida and La Costera. It is a difficult grape to work with and requires special attention at harvest time.

She is the star of our Clos Cor Ví Versat, the most highly rated single-varietal Verdil wine. Aged for four months on fine lees in stainless steel tanks.
